Creating an interior design

Everyone wants to be able to be different, and everyone wants to live in a unique house. This article will explain how to do this.

Interior design is both an art and a science that concerns not only the visible elements and objects in the room including such as chandeliers, furniture, curtains. Of course, it is difficult to imagine any room without them, but there is one more thing. Until the moment a designer starts choosing these objects, he usually evaluates the available space and takes into account the seven fundamental design elements in any interior design types. This is done in order to create a harmonious space that is both functional and beautiful. In order to have a better understanding of what the 7 elements of interior design are, each of them will be described in more detail:

1.Space

It is directly related to the physical boundaries of the room. A good designer always takes into account all the space available for work to be well aware of both the actual two-dimensional and three-dimensional volume of the room. During work, the specialist must make the best possible use of all the existing opportunities in his plans for interior design space.

Forms in interior design should be created as follows: for example, a long rectangular room, is recommended to be divided into two zones, one of which should be left for watching TV and the other should be used as a workspace.  Those areas that are filled with furniture and decorative objects are the used space, while the areas free from the furniture are called empty spaces. An empty space can sometimes be just as necessary as the space being used. It gives an incomparable sense of freedom and space, so it is important to have it in the room. There is no necessity to force every corner as much as possible. It is better to leave some free space. By doing so, there will be always the opportunity to buy something new.

2. Features

Interior design lines are divided into three types – horizontal, vertical and dynamic. Any purchased furniture should be combined with each other. Lines of a table with a chimney fireplace vertical lines in interior designs near which it stands. Dynamic lines of the curved ceiling should be combined with the features of doorways, etc. Professional interior elements designers know very well that when choosing pieces of furniture, great attention must be paid to the combination of lines and shapes that will decorate the space in the future.

3.Shapes

This fundamental principle is very closely linked to the lines. Interior design firms can be of different types: straight lines, curves, natural shapes, etc. This characteristic also implies open and closed forms. It is impossible to achieve the desired effect without combining forms and lines. A good combination of them affects the free space. For example, if a room is rectangular and at the same time narrow, a rectangular table should be used in it. If it concerns lamps for form interior design, in our situation (rectangular room with a table of the same shape), it is better to use three chandeliers than one longitudinal lamp. It should be noted that any solution can be right depending on the situation, but three chandeliers will create an interesting effect of equally distributed lighting.

4.Lighting

Light is one of the most important elements of interior design. As a rule, different types of light should be available in any room. Light illuminates the darkest corners of the room, it also creates a special atmosphere, emphasizing a style peculiarity. For a higher level of comfort in interior design elements, it is better to use a multi-level lighting system, which means a set of lighting elements located at different heights and which also includes ceiling lamps, sconces, floor lamps, etc. This combination of different lamps makes it possible to adjust the lighting level according to your own needs. For the ceiling, it is recommended to choose chandeliers that diffuse light, this will help to create a good, equal distribution of light in the interior.

It is also recommended to complement it with floor and table lamps as well as decorative lights and wall lights. If a room with furniture and walls is dark, it is full of cosiness and looks solid. But dark interiors have some disadvantages: first, they become visually smaller than they actually are, and second, they absorb a lot of light. To avoid this effect, it is recommended to ensure that the room where the interior is planned to be made in dark tones,  brighter light is installed.

5.Colour

Colour of a room can help create many different effects in space. It can make a small room bigger and a bigger room much cosier. The chosen colour also affects emotions.

It is a very individual question and what one person will like may not be appealing to others. You should start with the basic tone in interior design, which will be the majority in the room. The best colours are white, yellow, peach, beige, turquoise, pistachio and other light shades.

It is not recommended to use dark colours, but it is a matter of taste. Cold palette colours such as classic white walls or bright bathroom tiles can visually expand the small area. These shades can also help to increase the height of the ceiling visually.

    6.Texture

This fundamental element shows us such interior design examples, which reflects the characteristics of selected materials for different surfaces. In order to decide on the type of texture materials to be used, special attention should be paid as this is not an easily replaceable element such as a chandelier. You should clearly understand what you really want, polished granite or bare cement, velvet or silk, etc. The texture adds depth and gives a sense of space. The more different the textures, the more interesting space is. If you take a table with a glass top and place it on a shaggy carpet together with a velvet chair, it will look better than if everything in the room is the same.

When we talk about texture, we mean first of all the quality and type of surface of an object. Products made of natural wood always give a feeling of warmth and comfort. When adding one or more pieces of furniture made of wood (coffee table, chair, etc.) you can decrease the monotony of the existing interior or decorate a new one, as well as soften the cold colour palette.

To change the interior and make it more comfortable is also possible to use woollen plaids, flannel blankets, etc. There is no need to combine the colours of the blankets with the curtains at all, but the texture of both interior elements should be at least similar, but better of course when they are the same.

7.Patterns

With the help of any, even the most ordinary ornaments or tiles it is possible to significantly enliven and decorate the home interior design. A properly selected pattern can renew a room and give it individuality. When combining ornaments, wallpaper or tiles of different sizes, it is important to remember that they must harmonize with each other. It is better to place large drawings in the appropriate space, which can show their beauty in full size. That is why it is best to place large patterns or drawings on the walls. The drawing of the medium size will be suitable for furniture, and small for small things.

It is desirable that the main pattern is large and bright, you should also consider the tones of the colour scheme of your interior. After you have selected the main pattern, you should proceed to search for a medium-size pattern, which must be half the size of the main pattern. The pattern should also include several shades. This applies to any type of interior design. In turn, a small drawing should include no more than three colours.
